FIDYAH (fidā): In Arabic, this word means ‘the price paid to rescue someone from a difficult situation.’ According to the common understanding of Islamic jurisprudence, a person who is unable to fast due to old age or an incurable illness pays fidyah for each day they are unable to fast, as it is not possible for them to make up the fasts.

FİTRE (fitr charity): It is a compulsory charity that every Muslim who reaches the end of Ramadan and possesses at least the nisab amount of wealth beyond their basic needs must give. Fitre is a means of acceptance of fasting, deliverance from the agony of death, and deliverance from the torment of the grave. It is a means of meeting the needs of the poor and helping them benefit from the joy of the festival.

ALMS: Anything that a person in need may require, such as goods, money, or knowledge, given to the poor for the sake of Allah is called alms. Since alms encompass all obligatory and supererogatory acts of charity, zakat is also referred to as alms. Alms also ward off calamities and misfortunes. They are an expiation for sins and a shield against the fire of Hell.
